On June 20th, 2023, The Youth Empowerment Foundation proudly joined the global community in commemorating World Refugee Day – a day dedicated to honoring the strength, resilience, and courage of millions of people who have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict, persecution, and violence.

This year’s theme, “Hope Away From Home”, inspired our activities, partnerships, and advocacy as we brought together young people, local leaders, displaced individuals, and stakeholders to create a powerful platform for inclusion, empathy, and empowerment.

“We had the incredible opportunity to engage with the community and showcase the impactful work we do, including the #ROSHOP. The Refugee Youth Podcast also joined in, capturing voices and opinions about the day through live interviews.”

“We were proud to bring along students from the neighbouring Pagirinya Secondary School to experience World Refugee Day 2023. The aim was to inspire hope and show them that even away from home, they can still dream, achieve, and build a brighter future.”

Youth Empowerment Foundation-YEF-Adjumani is a community youth-led Media organization founded at Pagirinya Refugee Settlement in 2017 to support peacebuilding, promote gender equality, ignite creativity and innovation through media advocacy, mentorship, and ICT-based learning.
